Itinerary
Day-by-day route
Airport to Dambulla
Meet your chauffeur-guide at Bandaranaike International Airport and travel inland to Dambulla. Settle into your hotel and rest after the flight, with time for an easy village walk if arrival time allows.
Overnight: DambullaDambulla and Sigiriya
Visit Dambulla Cave Temple before continuing to Sigiriya. Climb the rock fortress, walk through the royal water gardens, and take in wide dry-zone views from the summit.
Overnight: Sigiriya or DambullaSigiriya to Anuradhapura
Drive north to Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka's first ancient capital. Explore great stupas, monastic complexes, stone carvings, and the sacred Sri Maha Bodhi area.
Overnight: AnuradhapuraAnuradhapura to Polonnaruwa
Continue to Polonnaruwa for a guided look at palace ruins, temples, irrigation works, and the carved Buddha statues of Gal Vihara. Return toward the Sigiriya area for the night.
Overnight: Sigiriya or HabaranaPolonnaruwa to Kandy via Matale
Travel through Matale's spice region on the way to Kandy. In the evening, visit the Temple of the Tooth and enjoy a traditional Kandyan cultural performance.
